Project Description:

OCPS’s primary concerns were to create a new image of the campus to the community coupled with an increased level of security. The design established a vocabulary of curved canopy entries and building massing which are used throughout the campus at the primary points of entry to break-up the single story horizontal nature of the campus. The design of the campus entailed the construction of three new classroom buildings flanking the core buildings to the south, east, and west, along with an addition to the Administration core building designed to provide a new front door and image for the campus. The prior campus configuration was open in nature with open walkways serving modular/portable classrooms and multiple points of access to the buildings. Internally, each classroom wing has a large, double-height common area with an open structure and clerestory windows which is utilized for P.E. activities and pre-school controlled waiting areas during inclement weather.
